Haiku in Real Life

Music floats on air
first song played titled “Haiku.”
My pen drops to write.

This Haiku actually happened to me verbatim earlier this week. I was listening to the “Peaceful Piano” station (which I highly recommend čśä) on Spotify, and the first song that played was called “Haiku.” Naturally, I immediately stopped what I was doing to start writing and (after a few revisions) came up with the poem above. Have a great weekend!

In Praise of Spiders

Sunlit silk shimmering
gliding through fragrant forest
web-weaving work of art
delicately decorating trees.

Delightedly devouring
detested Mosquitos
tightly trapped
in your latticework lair.

This poem is a response to The Daily Post Prompt, “Embrace the Ick.” The instructions are: think of something that truly repulses you. Hold that thought until your skin squirms. Now, write a glowing puff piece about its amazing merits.
